May I not forget

Updated: Feb 20, 2025

Waiting is daunting

It is humbling,

And to be completely honest,

Frustrating.

I do not like waiting oh Lord,

I do not understand why one should wait

But I do not dare try to understand why you make me wait

I trust you.

Father help me in the days my trust in you grows dim

Help me to fix my gaze upon you,

And not on that which I am anxiously waiting for

Help me to not forget

Remind me of the 40 years Joshua and Caleb endured

Remind me of the miracle of the wilderness

The promise is out there,

Waiting to be entered,

But while I am in the wilderness,

Help me to remember the miracles in the wilderness,

The manna that fell from heaven,

The cloud by day and fire by night,

The voice of God on mount Sinai,

The rocks that poured out water.

To put it into context today,

Help me to remember,

The freedom you have given me

Help me to remember,

The job you provided for me,

And the wonderful purpose you give me each day,

To remember the wonderful people in my life,

The daily provision of food,

The never lack of fluids available to drink,

And all the other wilderness blessings I oh so often forget

Even in the wilderness I am showered with miracles

Yet I know there is a land you promised that I would enter,

And as I eagerly and excitingly await this great land,

May I not forget, all you are, and all you have done.
